El campeón sudamericano ligero, el ascendente bonaerense Agustín “Sugar” Quintana, destruyó al venezolano Yoni “El Tren” Blanco, por un resonante nocaut en el primer asalto, y así defendió por primera ocasión su corona, en uno de los combates estelares de la velada desarrollada el viernes por la noche en el estadio de la Federación Argentina de Box (FAB), en la ciudad de Buenos Aires, Argentina, en una nueva producción de Argentina Boxing Promotions, de Mario Margossian televisada en vivo a través de TyC Sports y TyC Sports Play en su ciclo Boxeo de Primera.

En el otro combate estelar de la noche, la bonaerense Sol Baumstarh liquidó a la bonaerense Camila “La Brillante” Avaca, por nocaut técnico en el cuarto asalto, y así defendió por segunda ocasión su título sudamericano minimosca.

En un encuentro fugaz pero explosivo, Quintana (ahora 18-1-1, 13 KOs), actual N° 1 del ranking argentino ligero y que ya sumara el cetro latino ligero del Consejo Mundial de Boxeo (CMB) y el fedebol ligero de la Asociación Mundial de Boxeo (AMB), demostró toda su jerarquía y por qué es una de las figuras del boxeo nacional. En poco más de dos minutos acabó de manera contundente con Blanco (14-2, 13 KOs), de amplio recorrido en la selección venezolana, la franquicia Caciques de Venezuela de la World Series of Boxing (WSB) y la AIBA Pro Boxing (APB) de la Asociación Internacional de Boxeo (AIBA), pero que nada pudo hacer.

Rápidamente, Quintana (61,200 kg.) salió a marcar presencia. Con dos pesadas derechas cruzadas a la mandíbula, y dos ascendentes al mentón lo hizo retroceder. A pesar de la guardia cerrada del venezolano (60,850 kg.), la atravesó con profundos cross y rectos. Siempre con impactos de profundos y de marcada factura, combinó con fiereza distribuyendo el castigo al rostro y cuerpo. Su destacada línea técnica, velocidad, inteligencia, precisión y potencia, se asociaron con una determinación para terminar con la faena desde la primera campana.  A su ataque al rostro, el bonaerense agregó sus punzantes ganchos a las costillas, con los que le fue minando la resistencia de un rival, que intentaba responder pero ni siquiera lograba inquietarlo. Seguro, “Sugar” fue por más. Lo llevó contra las cuerdas y descargó una izquierda ascendente al mentón seguido de una fulminante cruzada derecha a la mejilla, con que lo cortó sobre su pómulo y lo envió a la lona, sin respuestas, por lo que el árbitro Hernán Guajardo decretó el fuera de combate cuando apenas transcurrían 2’:19” de pelea.

A los 26 años, Quintana se ha transformado en una de las figuras del boxeo nacional. Tras vencer casi todo oponente como Néstor Maidana y Gabriel Puñalef Calfín -ante quien obtuvo el título fedebol ligero AMB-, tras un 2021 de resonantes victorias, como su nocaut sobre el monarca nacional Claudio Daneff por el título latino ligero CMB, y dominar a Esteban Stodulsky, defendió por primera vez el cetro sudamericano que conquistó el 25 de febrero al liquidar a Facundo Arce por nocaut en el quinto round, y llegaba del 22 de julio destruir al uruguayo José Acevedo en el sexto. Frente a un rival como Blanco, quien en seis años en la selección de su país, WSB y APB se midió a rivales como los medallistas olímpicos Lázaro Álvarez y Robeisy Ramírez, de Cuba, Duke Ragan -de Estados Unidos-, además de vencer al galés Sean McGoldrick, y como rentado había superado a casi todo escollo por nocaut, demostró que el panorama nacional y sudamericano le queda chico.

BAUMSTARH LIQUIDÓ A AVACA Y RETUVO SU REINADO

En el otro combate estelar de la noche, la bonaerense Sol Baumstarh (48,150 kg. y 6-6-1, 4 KOs) liquidó a la bonaerense Camila “La Brillante” Avaca (48,350 kg. y 2-3-2), por nocaut técnico en el cuarto asalto, y así defendió por segunda ocasión su título sudamericano minimosca.

En un encuentro intenso, Baumstarh, actual N° 2 del ranking argentino minimosca, hizo pesar su mayor potencia, factura de golpes y precisión, y lo terminó con una definición candidata a KO femenino del año.

Desde el primer campanazo, ambas salieron a cruzarse en la corta distancia, imprimiendo un ritmo frenético. En la corta distancia, la campeona combinaba sus potentes ráfagas de ascendentes y cruzados al rostro. Sin embargo, la retadora respondía con sus boleados y cross, también a la zona alta. Dentro de un trámite equilibrado, Baumstarh sacaba diferencias fruto de su mayor potencia y precisión de los impactos.

Creciendo en confianza, en el cuarto round llegaría lo mejor de la nacida en Brandsen. En la corta distancia, a pesar de los veloces arrestos de su rival, descargó un resonante ascendente zurdo al mentón, que envió a la valiente “Brillante” al suelo, visiblemente conmovida, por lo que el árbitro Lucas Katalinich detuvo la cuenta y señaló el nocaut técnico al 1’:48”.

A los 24 años, Baumstarh defendió por segunda vez la corona que conquistó el pasado 4 de marzo cuando acabó con Romina Sosa por nocaut técnico en el séptimo asalto en Cutral Có, Neuquén, y que retuvo el 17 de junio sobre Aixa Adema en fallo mayoritario en su Brandsen natal.

VICTORIAS DE DUTRA, BERTOLA Y BASTIDA

Más allá de los duelos principales, una atractiva programación completó la jornada. En categoría superligero, el invicto bonaerense Alan Dutra (62,250 kg. y 8-0, 4 KOs), N° 11 del ranking argentino superligero, sometió al experimentado salteño Elohim “Chocolate” Pereyra (63 kg. y 11-20-5, 3 KOs), hasta vencerlo por puntos, en un amplio fallo unánime, tras seis rounds, luego de ocasionarle una cuenta de pie en el tercero, de parte del árbitro Daniel Bogado. Las tarjetas de los jueces fueron: Mirta Jara, Carlos Azzinnaro y Carolina Mayorquim, todos 60-53.

En división ligero, el marplatense Mariano “Bonito” Bertola (60,600 kg. y 6-0-1) superó al chileno Alexander Domínguez (58,800 kg. y 2-4), por puntos, en decisión mayoritaria, tras seis capítulos. Las tarjetas de los jueces fueron: Carlos Azzinnaro 57-57, Jorge Basile 58-56, y Carolina Mayorquim 58-56.

Finalmente, en peso welter, la debutante marplatense Rocío “Halcón” Bastida (65,900 kg. y 1-0) dominó a la cordobesa Natalia Juárez (65,450 kg. y 1-8), por puntos, en decisión unánime, luego de cuatro episodios, y tras ocasionarle una cuenta de pie en el tercero. Las tarjetas de los jueces fueron: Jorge Basile 39-36, Carlos Azzinnaro 40-35, y Mirta Jara 39-36.
