La Mannschaft estuvo al borde de la eliminación con un gol de Morata, pero reaccionó para dejar ‘caliente’ el Grupo E.

Antonio Rüdiger había roto el cero al minuto 39 con un cabezazo desde un tiro libre cobrado por Joshua Kimmich, pero la acción fue revisada por el VAR y su gol fue anulado por fuera de lugar.

Unai Simón le regaló la pelota a los alemanes y Kimmich casi lo vacuna, pero el guardameta se redimió con una buena atajada y después vino el gol de La Roja al 62’.

Dani Olmo abrió la cancha hacia Alba que levantó la mirada para meter un centro raso al primer poste donde Álvaro Morata apareció tras un gran movimiento para desmarcarse y rematar con libertad para romper las redes de Neuer.

La agonía se hacía presente en el Estadio Al Bayt con fantasmas del anterior Mundial para los alemanes, pero fiel a su mentalidad no se dieron por vencidos y al 83’ Leroy Sané sirvió a Jamal Musiala que jaló el balón hacia el área para servir sin querer a Füllkrug que sacó un riflazo al ángulo imposible de detener para Simón.

Con este empate y el triunfo de Costa Rica ante Japón (1-0), el Grupo E está cerrado a una jornada de terminar la Fase de Grupos, pues las cuatro selecciones pueden calificar a los Octavos de Final.

España lidera el grupo con cuatro puntos, seguido de Japón y Costa Rica con tres, en el fondo está Alemania con un punto que deberá vencer a los ticos y esperar que los españoles derroten a los nipones para avanzar.
